Join us on Tuesdays at The Belrose!

A Vehicle for Change is co-hosting (along with The Plant Studios) Tuesdays are Bluesdays at The Belrose in San Rafael.
Why? To celebrate American roots music, demonstrate how all rock is rooted in the blues, to keep musicians working in our community and to help the Belrose sustain its rep as the coolest little dinner theatre in Marin!
Every week, starting at 7:00, Mari Mack and Livin Like Kings learn a new tune, then at 8:00, we open the doors to let in our friends in on the rest of rehearsal and at 9:00 we and play a set for you. Sometimes, Arne invites a friend or two sit in with the band - Two weeks ago, Don Bassey stopped by. Last week, Scott Petersen & Prairie Prince sat in - Scott for the whole night, Prairie for a few tunes.
Margie serves up the beer, wine and chili, and it's a little party!
Admission is only $5 - We also have a collection box for our favorite local non-profit arts programs, for those who are willing and able to give a little more. Contact the BELROSE for more information!

Mari Mack CD Release Events!

After six years in the making, Mari Mack's "Can't Go Back" is released!
http://www.marinij.com/entertainment/ci_16097805?source=rss
I figure, if I want to encourage more independent artists to use "music as a vehicle for change," it makes sense for me to set the example. Since I put in a LOT of volunteer hours into non-profit work, the majority of proceeds from CD sales will indirectly finance my two pet projects: A Vehicle for Change and The Plant Studios' Artsboretum.
There are only special TWO CD release events with the band, Livin' Like Kings: First is scheduled for September 25th at the 142 Throckmorton in Mill Valley and the final is October 9th at the Rancho Nicasio. For more info on how you can join in on the fun and get a free gift with purchase of advance tickets, please click HERE

Call for Action: Ban the Use of Methyl Iodide!

The public has until June 29th to state its opposition to use of Methyl Iodide as a pesticde in CA. The EPA approved its use in 2007, even after 50 scientists, 5 of them Nobel Laureates, advised against its use.
Methyl iodide is so reliably carcinogenic that it's used in the lab to cause cancer. Scientists say it "cannot be used safely," yet Gov. Schwarzennegger has pushed its approval. We have until the end of June to register public outrage.
How can you help?:
1) Call the Governor & demand that methyl iodide not be approved for use in California: (916) 445-2841
2) Comment by email: mei_comments@cdpr.ca.gov
3) Sign an online petition and get more information:

Continuation of our journey!

Hey there - welcome to our new digs!
As you may or may not know, A Vehicle for Change started in 2007 as a non-profit branch of The Plant Studios in Sausalito!
Our mission: to use music, media and the arts as a vehicle for change in the world! We especially like to focus on using music, art and media to engage youth in collaborative, conscious creativity!
Since The Plant closed its doors in 2008, we lost our office and shifted our original mission focus to preserve that building, an amazing icon of our music history, for future generations.
Now that The Plant Studios' Artsboretum is gaining momentum, we are once again able to redirect some of our energy towards A Vehicle for Change, which is now a creative conscious enterprise driving change through music and the arts! We support The Plant Studios' Artsboretum Project and additional arts non-profits that serve at risk and homeless youth in the Bay Area and beyond!
